WPress installs and working with Child Themes

I have 7- Questions:
1. Installing and working with WordPress.
2. Please explain how multisite installations work and what they are used for.
3. Which is better; "Having multiple blogs on one domain vs. A Multisite installation or MU installs."

Child themes:
4. Are child themes view or should they be viewed as a rule of thumb practice or should they be viewed as the rule.
5. Should plug-ins only be installed in the child Theme and not the parent?
6. Is the NO SPAM Plugin a valid alternative to ASKIMET?
7. Is there a Plugin capable of moving products IN/OUT of a sales page or media gallery?

Hey @George, hope you're doing well today.

    1. Installing and working with WordPress.

    2. Please explain how multisite installations work and what they are used for.

    3. Which is better; "Having multiple blogs on one domain vs. A Multisite installation or MU installs."

    4. Are child themes view or should they be viewed as a rule of thumb practice or should they be viewed as the rule.

    5. Should plug-ins only be installed in the child Theme and not the parent?

I'd like to refer you to our manuals section, as they have the answers you're looking for here:

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/

    6. Is the NO SPAM Plugin a valid alternative to ASKIMET?

Not sure if you're referring to this one:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/nospamnx/

But I can't say I've heard of it before. Akismet is an inexpensive option though (for one site, it'll cost $5 a month), and it definitely does the job. If that's within your budget, I'd say go for it!

    7. Is there a Plugin capable of moving products IN/OUT of a sales page or media gallery?

While I don't know what e-commerce plugin you're looking to use (or are already using), I can't say I've heard of a plugin that does that.

If you were using MarketPress though, and you were wanting to embed a product onto a page, you would use a shortcode like this to do that:

    [mp_product product_id="1"]

(you would change "1" to the applicable product ID)

    Hope that helps!

    Regards,
    Michael

    Hey Michael,
My apologies for late reply, and thanks for the prompt response to my questions. Your insights and recommendations got a warm welcome, even if it
turned out to be a late one.
After submitting my questions, I decided to put my techie hat back on and venture into the Word Press Jungle with a renew passion for reading.
So, I install a "Wamp Server" then following the "Intro to WP & WP Multisite Manual."
-Then did a Hosted Install using Softiculous and a Local Host install by the book.
The Hosted install was a WPMU from the beginning, but the Localhost was a single that I converted to MU with a slight deviation regarding the ".htaccess" file.modification.
As for the bulk processing of media up/downloads go...
I found a plugin labeled: "wp-media library assistant" which appears to have the potential of assisting with media management.
So I want to thank you again for all of you help in these matters.

My objective is; for a 3-4 Site Network...with Videos, Web Content, and hopefully create a new group of WP-Specialist. I recently retired from the Electronic/Computer Tech Industry and when I look back on my questions. I kinda feel like retirement engendered a touch of lazy.
But becoming a member of "wpmudev" has help see WordPress know-how as a Skill-Set versus a pain in the brain.

I am going to mark this one as resolved for now.
